Competition: National League
Market: Goal to be scored in both halves
Odds: 8/13 @ BetUS
Two sides who are desperately seeking a National League boost on Wednesday night, Ebbsfleet will welcome Eastleigh to Stonebridge Road.
Starting with the hosts, while Ebbsfleet might have eventually dragged themselves over the finishing line last season as they kept hold of their National League status, Harry Watling’s men are in the midst of a public fifth-tier status. Last seen putting in an infamous performance at Stonebridge Road as they slumped to a 6-0 drumming at home against Solihull Moors, the Kent-based outfit are sat rock-bottom of the table and already seeking a miracle. In fact, only putting eight points on the board from any of their first 18 National League appearances, they already find themselves sat nine points adrift of safety. Likewise, slumping to a 4-0 loss when they travelled to York City last month, Ebbsfleet have rightfully gained a real reputation for their glaring defensive issues. Along with failing to record a single clean sheet across any competition since the middle of September, Wednesday’s hosts have already conceded a staggering 43 fifth-tier strikes.
As for the visitors, while Eastleigh might still find themselves clinging onto their spot in the top-half of the National League table, they too are at the heart of a real struggle. Suffering a second-half collapse in Hampshire last weekend as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate against Wealdstone, Kelvin Davis’ men have come crashing back down to earth since their bright start to proceedings. Opening November with a 2-1 loss at home against Braintree, the Spitfires are without a win from any of their previous 10 consecutive appearances across all competitions. With that run stemming all the way back to an action-packed 4-2 victory against Rochdale on September 21st, Eastleigh have also shown some rather glaring issues on their travels. In fact, Wednesday’s guests have recorded just three points from any of their last seven showdowns away from the Silverlake Stadium. It should also be noted, Davis’ downbeat squad have shipped at least a pair of goals in five of those seven away fixtures.
