In an MLS showdown that could see chances come thick and fast in the early hours of Thursday, Dallas will welcome New York City to the Toyota Stadium.
Starting with the hosts, last seen over the weekend watching Houston snatch a last-gasp point in what was an action-packed 2-2 draw, Dallas have the feel of a side seeking some kind of boost. Although Nico Estévez might find themselves still sat in pole position to book a Final Series spot in the Western Conference this season, they have now managed to win just one of their last eight domestic showdowns, a run that stems back to a 3-1 victory against LA Galaxy on May 14th. Likewise, without a win in their last five MLS matchups, fans around the Toyota Stadium have also seen their side show some extended issues. Including a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Los Angeles last month, it should be highlighted that Dallas have now failed to record a single clean sheet across any format since the start of May.
As for the visitors, after watching former boss Ronny Deila leave Yankee Stadium back in June, New York would have simply been glad to make a return to winning ways last weekend. Managing to draw a line under their downbeat five-match winless run as they stormed their way to a thumping 4-2 victory against New England last time out, interim manager Nick Cushing will be desperate for his temporary squad to build off of that display in the early hours of Thursday. However, it should be noted, New York have remarkably shipped at least a pair of strikes in each of their last five domestic showdowns on the bounce. Likewise, with Thursday’s opponents playing out an action-packed 3-3 draw when the two sides faced off last season, we’re backing what could be another enjoyable affair here.
