Competition: National League
Market: Halifax win
Odds: 1/1 @ Pribet
Looking to secure back-to-back National League victories on Tuesday night, Halifax will welcome AFC Fylde to Yorkshire in midweek.
Starting with the hosts, while Halifax might have eventually missed out on the chance to book a play-off ticket last season, the Yorkshire-based outfit have come roaring back this time around. Last seen over the weekend putting in another rugged performance as they secured a 1-0 victory at home against Wealdstone, Chris Millington’s side have lost just one of their previous seven National League appearances – a run that stems back to September 30th. Opening up Tuesday’s showdown holding a one-point buffer from dropping out of the play-off places, Halifax should be smelling a golden opportunity here. Rightfully tipped as a standout contender on Tuesday night, the Blues should be excited by their continued success at The Shay. Along with signing off October with a 2-1 win against Hartlepool, Millington’s men have won each of their last three National League contests in front of their own supporters. Enjoying their longest winning run in Yorkshire since the middle of April, Halifax will be looking to make another statement of intent.
As for the visitors, although AFC Fylde might have made their National League return this year, it is no secret that the Coasters are facing a major uphill battle. Opening Tuesday’s showdown already battling it out in the drop zone and currently sat four points adrift of safety, Chris Beech’s side should be bracing themselves for another stern examination here. Last seen over the weekend putting in another downbeat performance as they suffered a 1-0 loss away at Bromley, the Lancashire-based outfit have now lost each of their previous three appearances across all formats. Crashing out of the FA Cup earlier in the month as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sutton, AFC Fylde have also continued to show some rather glaring issues on the road. Along with back-to-back defeats away from Mill Farm, it should also be highlighted that Tuesday’s guests have lost four of their last five contests outside of Lancashire. Given what has been a huge recent gulf in class between the midweek opponents, we are backing a home victory in midweek.
