Competition: Irish Premier Division
Market: Shamrock Rovers win
Odds: 1/2 @ 888sport
Simply hoping to widen their buffer at the top of the Premier Division table, Shamrock will make the trip to Ballybofey on Friday night when they meet the Finn Harps.
Starting with the hosts, while the Finn Harps might have been last seen mounting a stellar comeback as they snatched a 2-2 draw against St. Patrick’s on home soil, Ollie Horgan’s men are in the midst of an extended rut. With many across Ireland tipping them as a runaway pick in this year’s relegation scrap, the Blues already find themselves sat 10-points adrift of safety. Marking their return from June’s international break with a 3-0 drumming at the hands of Sligo Rovers, the Ballybofey-based outfit are in the midst of a seven-match winless run. With that worrying extended rut stemming all the way back to April 29th, Friday’s hosts have only continued to show some rather glaring issues at both ends of the pitch. Welcoming the defending champions to town this weekend, the Harps should be bracing themselves for a huge task.
As for the visitors, managing to pick up what was a deserved victory away at St. Patrick’s earlier in the week, Shamrock have once again impressed many across Ireland this season. Grabbing a 2-1 victory on their travels, it is no secret that many have tipped Stephen Bradley’s men as a landslide pick to retain their domestic crown. Now clinching back-to-back Premier Division victories, there is no doubt that Shamrock will be boosted by a rather rampant record against this weekend’s opponents. Storming their way to a 3-1 win when they welcomed the Harps to Tallaght Stadium last month, Bradley’s heavyweight squad have won each of their last three meetings against the relegation scrappers. Winning those trio of meetings by an aggregate score of 9-1, we’re backing a similar away victory here.
