Looking to make up some ground in the top-six chase this weekend, Fortaleza will welcome Juventude to the Castelao on Sunday night.

Starting with the hosts, although Fortaleza might have shown some extended inconstancies since opening up the 2024 campaign, the Tricolor do appear to have turned a recent corner. Last seen earlier in the week putting in what was a remarkable display as they stormed their way to a 3-0 romp against Brazilian giants Palmeiras, Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s men have collected seven points from their previous three Serie A appearances. Looking to try and find a route into the top-six, the former Huracan boss will be calling on his squad to make another statement here. With their recent success highlighted by a gritty 1-0 victory against Gremio on June 20th, the Ceara-based outfit will also be excited by their remarkable success on home soil. Including another 1-0 win against Athletico-PR earlier in the month, it should be highlighted that Fortaleza have won all of their previous five consecutive showdowns at the Castelao by an aggregate score of 9-1.

As for the visitors, managing to make an immediate return to winning ways earlier in the week as they collected a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Flamengo, Juventude will be looking to use that performance as a platform to build on. However, although the Verdao might have impressed since making their Serie A return this season, they have registered just three wins from their previous nine top-flight appearances. Failing to collect back-to-back victories since opening up the 2024 campaign, the former Bahia boss will also have a mounting headache over his side’s extended issues away from the Alfredo Jaconi. Last seen on their travels falling to a routine 3-1 drumming at the hands of Palmeiras, they have failed to win any of their first six away fixtures so far this season. With that run highlighted by a 4-1 defeat against Botafogo on April 21st, Juventude have a real challenge on their hands this weekend.
