Competition: EFL Cup

Market: Fulham win

Odds: 7/10 @ BetUS

Looking to extend on their EFL Cup adventure on Wednesday night, Fulham will welcome Championship strugglers Norwich to Craven Cottage.

Starting with the hosts, shocking many as they clinched a top-half finish on their Premier League return last season, Fulham have their sights set on mounting another top-10 charge this time around. Putting in a gritty performance away at London rivals Crystal Palace over the weekend as they claimed a 0-0 stalemate, Marco Silva’s men have once again impressed since opening up the 2023/24 campaign. Marking their return from September’s international break with a 1-0 win at home against Luton, the one-time Everton boss has seen his side suffer just a single defeat from any of their previous five meetings against top-flight opposition. Extending on their EFL Cup adventure on August 29th as they edged past a high-flying Tottenham at Craven Cottage, Fulham will be confident of making another statement in west London here. Likewise, landing a 2-0 win when they last met Wednesday’s opponents back in March 2018, Silva’s side will be seeking a repeat performance in midweek.

As for the visitors, while Norwich might have opened up the new Championship campaign tipped as a leading promotion contender, David Wagner’s men are in the midst of a real struggle. Putting in a woeful performance over the weekend as they slumped to an infamous 6-2 hammering at the hands of Plymouth, the former Huddersfield boss appears to have a real job on his hands. Along with heading into September’s international break with another worrying display as they were hit with a 2-1 defeat against Rotherham, the Yellows have now lost three of heir previous four Championship showdowns. Slipping out of the play-off places, Norwich should also be worried by a downbeat record against Wednesday’s opponents. Including that 2-0 loss when they welcomed Fulham to Carrow Road back in 2018, Wagner’s struggling squad have won just one of their last 22 straight meetings against the Cottagers.

Bet: Fulham 7/10 to beat Norwich in Wednesday’s EFL Cup showdown @ BetUS
