In what looks like it could be a lively affair from the Estadio Municipal on Saturday night, Girona will welcome Real Sociedad to Catalonia.

Last seen at the Estadio Municipal storming their way to a stellar 5-1 romp against Sevilla, Girona have won all of their last five straight domestic showdowns in front of their own supporters – a run that stems back to a 1-1 stalemate against Athletic Bilbao on November 27th.

As for the visitors, although Real Sociedad might be facing a major uphill battle in their bid to claim another top-four finish this season, Imanol Alguacil’s side have once again gained plenty of plaudits. Shrining a major Champions League upset as they breezed their way to a knockout stage ticket, the Basque-based outfit have remarkably suffered just a single defeat from any of their previous 17 straight appearances across all competitions. Extending on their Copa del Rey adventure and booking a semi-final spot thanks to a 2-1 victory away at Celta Vigo on January 23rd, La Real will be excited by their continued success on the road. In fact, aside from a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Athletic Bilbao last month, that is the only domestic loss that Alguacil’s men have tasted away from the Reale Arena so far this season. With Saturday’s opponents playing out a 1-1 stalemate when they met for their reverse La Liga showdown on August 12th, we are expecting an enjoyable affair here.
