Competition: Brazil Serie B
Market: Goias draw no bet
Odds: 3/5 @ BetUS
Two sides who find themselves scrapping it out at the top of the Serie B table, Goias will welcome Sport Recife to the Estadio da Serrinha in the early hours of Saturday.
Starting with the hosts, while Goias might have endured a frustrating week, the Big Green have their sights firmly set on securing an immediate Serie A return this season. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat just one-point adrift of climbing to the top of the table, Marcio Zanardi’s men have lost just one of their first seven second-tier appearances this year. Despite watching their Copa do Brasil adventure come to an end following a 2-1 aggregate defeat against Cuiaba on May 23rd, they will certainly be excited to make a return to home soil this weekend. Last seen at the Estadio da Serrinha storming their way to a routine 4-0 romp against Botafogo SP, Goias have won all of their previous four showdowns in front of their own supporters by an aggregate score of 10-0. Signing off April with a 3-0 victory against Ponte Preta, Saturday’s hosts have also gained a reputation for their defensive resolve. In fact, the Big Green have not shipped a single strike on home soil in over 400 minutes of action.
As for the visitors, although Sport Recife might have opened up the 2024 with a real flurry, the Lions have largely come crashing back down to earth. Watching their Copa do Nordeste adventure come to an end last weekend as they slumped to a 4-1 drumming at home against Fortaleza, Mariano’s Soso’s side have come tumbling out of the promotion spots. With their recent wobble highlighted by a shock 2-1 loss against Avai on May 19th, the former San Lorenzo boss has seen his squad lose three of their previous four appearances across all competitions. Likewise, last seen on their travels getting hit with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Ituano, Sport Recife should also be concerned by a nightmare record at the Estadio da Serrinha. Including a 1-0 loss when they last travelled to Goias back in December 2020, Soso’s men have failed to win any of their previous five trips. Despite being sat just one-point adrift of breaking back into the promotion places, we are backing a home draw no bet here.
