Competition: Scottish Premiership
Market: Both teams to score
Odds: 10/11 @ Pribet
Facing what could be a season-defining Premiership showdown on Sunday lunchtime, Celtic will travel to Tynecastle when they meet Hearts.
Starting with the hosts, enjoying what has been another eye-catching domestic romp this season, it is no secret that the Jambos have their sights firmly set on securing another European finish in 2024. While Steven Naismith’s men might have been disappointed earlier in the week as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate against Hibernian, the Edinburgh-based outfit have lost just one of their previous 14 appearances across all competitions. With that extended flurry stemming all the way back to a 2-1 defeat away at Aberdeen back on December 9th, Hearts will also be excited by their continued success on home soil. Including an action-packed 3-2 victory against Dundee last month, Naismith’s men have collected 14 points from their previous six Premiership showdowns at Tynecastle. Extending on their League Cup adventure on February 11th as they secured a routine 4-1 victory against second-tier outfit Airdrieonians, the Jambos will be desperate to spring a heavyweight upset on Sunday lunchtime.
As for the visitors, while Celtic might have a real battle on their hands to make more domestic history this season, the Hoops are enjoying quite the clinical purple patch. Last seen earlier in the week putting in a remarkable display on home soil as they stormed their way to a 7-1 romp against Dundee, Brendan Rodgers’ men have secured back-to-back Premiership victories by an aggregate score of 10-2. Unbeaten in all of their previous 12 straight domestic appearances across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to December 16th – Sunday’s guests know the importance of making another statement here. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat two points adrift of Rangers and top spot, Rodgers will have plenty of pressure on his shoulders at Tynecastle. However, it should be highlighted, with Celtic seeing five of their last six domestic contests finish with both teams finding the net, we are expecting a similar outcome in Edinburgh.
