Competition: League One
Market: Wrexham double chance
Odds: 7/10 @ BetUS
Two sides who find themselves battling it out in the play-off places, Huddersfield and Wrexham will meet at the John Smith’s Stadium on Tuesday night.
Starting with the hosts, making a much-welcomed return to winning ways over the weekend as they snatched a 2-1 victory away at Stevenage Huddersfield will be desperate to use that performance as a platform to build on. However, although the Terriers might find themselves pencilled in as a leading play-off contender this season, Michael Duff’s side have drastically failed to find any kind of stability since opening the New Year. Signing off January with a 2-1 loss against Wigan, the former Swansea boss has seen his squad win just a trio of their previous 10 League One appearances – a run that stems back to January 7th. Likewise, notching consecutive wins on just a single occasion since the end of December, Huddersfield have also shown some glaring issues on home soil. Last seen in Yorkshire getting hit with a 1-0 defeat against Peterborough, the Terries are without a win from any of their previous six showdowns at the John Smith’s Stadium.
As for the visitors, eventually forced to settle for a 0-0 stalemate at home against Bolton over the weekend, Wrexham have the feel of a squad seeking a recent boost. Watching their EFL Trophy adventure come to an end on February 26th as they suffered penalties heartbreak at the hands of Peterborough, Phil Parkinson’s side have claimed just a single win from any of their previous four appearances across all competitions. Nevertheless, opening Tuesday’s trip to Yorkshire sat just two points adrift of breaking back into the automatic promotion spots, Wrexham will be excited by their continued success away from the Racecourse Ground. Last seen on their travels claiming an eye-catching 2-1 victory against Mansfield, Tuesday’s guests have won each of their previous four consecutive matchups on the road by an aggregate score of 10-3. With that run highlighted by a 4-1 romp against Port Vale on February 4th, Wrexham will be desperate to kickstart their automatic promotion charge in midweek.
