Hoping to make up some ground in the play-off chase this weekend, Coventry will make the trip to a struggling Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, while Huddersfield might have claimed a much-needed 2-1 victory against Birmingham on February 18th, Neil Warnock’s new squad came crashing back down to earth last weekend. Putting in a nightmare display last weekend as they were hit with a 4-0 drumming at the hands of Burnley, the one-time Cardiff boss knows that he has an almighty tussle on his hands in 2023. Still sat four points adrift of Championship safety and tipped as a leading relegation pick this year, the Yorkshire-based outfit have now claimed just a single win from their previous 10 meetings against second-tier opposition. With that run stemming all the way back to December 29th, Warnock’s side have also gained a reputation for their glaring struggles at the back. Including a 3-0 drumming against Stoke last month, it should be noted that Huddersfield have recorded just a sole Championship clean sheet since the end of October.
As for the visitors, while Coventry might have been disappointed after settling for a 0-0 stalemate away at Preston earlier in the week, the Blues have still impressed many across the Championship this season. Although Mark Robins’ side might be dealing with some rather public issues behind the scenes, they are enjoying a five-match unbeaten run. Desperate to make up some ground in the play-off chase when they travel to Yorkshire this weekend, Coventry have continued to shine with their defensive steel. Including an eye-catching 1-0 victory against top-six contenders Millwall last month, Saturday’s guests have shipped just a single strike in their last four Championship appearances. Likewise, with just a single defeat to their name since back on January 21st, Robins’ side will be smelling an opportunity here. It should also be noted, when the two sides last met back in January, Coventry claimed a deserved 2-0 win on home soil.
