Competition: Spanish Segunda

Market: Huesca win

Odds: 5/4 @ BetUS

Looking to extend on their 100% start, Huesca will welcome Burgos to the Estadio El Alcoraz on Saturday evening.

Starting with the hosts, while Huesca might have only just about dragged themselves over the finishing line last season as they managed to keep hold of their Segunda status, Antonio Hidalgo’s men have made a string of improvements since returning from the summer interval. Flying out of the traps since opening up the 2024/25 campaign, the Aragon-based outfit have continued to receive a string of plaudits from across Spain’s second-tier. Opening proceedings with a rugged 1-0 victory away at Elche on August 18th, the former Sevilla coach finds the mood around the Estadio El Alcoraz at a red-hot high. Last seen putting in another dominant performance as they stormed their way to a 3-1 romp against Granada, Huesca have won each of their first three Segunda appearances. The only team that can boast a 100% start and suddenly pencilled in as a genuine promotion contender this season, Hidalgo’s side will be looking to make another statement of intent this weekend.

As for the visitors, although Burgos might have opened up the new campaign with an eye-catching 3-1 victory against Cartagena, Bolo’s side have failed to use that performance as a platform to build on. Putting in a toothless display last weekend as they suffered a 2-0 loss at home against Castellon, the Whites are seeking some much-welcomed stability. Failing to win any of their final four Segunda appearances last season, Saturday’s guests also know the importance of finding some crucial defensive resolve. In fact, continuing on from last season season, Burgos have failed to muster a single clean sheet from any of their previous 12 meetings against second-tier opposition – a run that stems all the way back to March 29th. Pencilled in as a real underdog contender this weekend, Bolo’s camp should also be concerned by their most recent trip to the Segunda leaders. Falling to a 3-0 drumming when they travelled to the Estadio El Alcoraz last season, we are expecting a similar outcome here.

Bet: Huesca 5/4 to beat Burgos in Saturday’s Segunda showdown @ BetUS
