Competition: Brazil Serie A
Market: Atletico-MG win
Odds: 19/20 @ 888sport
Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Serie A table, Atletico-MG will make the trip to Juventude on Saturday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Juventude might have been last seen snatching a shock point on their travels, it does not cover what has been a largely worrying run of form. Despite playing out a 0-0 stalemate away at Sao Paulo last weekend, Head Coach Eduardo Baptista already finds his downbeat squad at the heart of a relegation scrap. Opening Saturday’s fixtures sat way down in 19th and four points adrift of safety, the Rio Grande do Sul-based outfit have now collected just a single point from their last five Serie A contests. With many tipping them as a leading relegation pick this season, Juventude have also gained a reputation for their rather glaring issues on home soil. Last seen at the Estádio Alfredo Jaconi getting hit with a sluggish 2-1 loss against Santos, this weekend’s hosts have lost three of their last four matchups in front of their own supporters.
As for the visitors, although Atletico-MG might have been disappointed to have only played out a first-leg 1-1 draw against Emelec on Copa Libertadores in midweek, the mood in their camp should still be at a high. Gaining plenty of praise from across Brazil this season, Head Coach Antonio Mohamed once again finds his side battling it out at the top of the table. Last seen on Serie A action picking up a lively 3-2 win against Fortaleza on home soil, the Galo are unbeaten in each of their previous six matchups across all formats. Likewise, winning each of their last three domestic showdowns on the spin, there is no doubt that Atletico-MG should be smelling a real chance on Saturday night. With the defending champions landing a routine 2-0 victory when the two sides faced off last season, we’re backing a similar outcome here.
