Competition: Serie A

Market: Lazio win

Odds: 7/10 @ 888sport

Hoping to try and close their top-four deficit this weekend, Lazio will welcome a struggling Bologna to the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Lazio might have shown some extended issues with their consistency this season, they are enjoying what has been a much-welcomed boost on Serie A duties. Putting in a stellar display last weekend and storming their way to a 3-0 romp against Fiorentina on the road, Head Coach Maurizio Sarri finds his side sat in pole position to book another European finish this year. Suffering just a pair of defeats from any of their last nine matchups across all formats, a run that stems back to the middle of December, Lazio should be smelling a golden chance here. Gaining a real reputation for their recent displays at the back, it should also be noted that the former Chelsea manager has seen his side remarkably keep four clean sheets on the spin, their best defensive run in recent memory.

As for the visitors, while Bologna might have signed off 2021 with a thumping 3-0 win against Sassuolo on the road, the Rossoblù have rather drastically failed to build off of that momentum. Almost finding themselves sat in Serie A limbo, Siniša Mihajlović’s men have now managed to collect just a single point from any of their last four top-flight matchups since opening the New Year. Last seen having to settle for a 0-0 stalemate against Empoli, Bologna will know that they face a huge task on Saturday afternoon. With their recent issues highlighted by a 2-1 defeat against relegation scrappers Cagliari, it should also be noted that the one-time AC Milan boss has seen his side lose three of their last four away fixtures. Given the recent gulf in class, we’re backing a home victory here.

Bet: Lazio 7/10 to beat Bologna in Saturday’s Serie A showdown @ 888sport
