Looking to find a route into the European spots, Lyon will travel to the Stade Oceane when they meet Le Havre on Sunday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Le Havre might have clung to their Ligue 1 status last season, it appears that the Dean Club have another uphill battle on their hands this time around. Heading into October’s international break with another downbeat display as they fell to a routine 2-0 loss at the hands of Brest, Didier Digard’s men are seeking a much-needed boost. Signing off September with a 3-0 drumming at home against Lille, the Normandy-based outfit have lost each of their previous four consecutive Ligue 1 showdowns. With their recent struggle underlined by a 2-0 defeat against Toulouse on September 15th, Le Havre have continued to show some glaring issues at both ends of the pitch. Facing what should be another stern examination this weekend, it should also be highlighted that Le Havre have registered just a single top-flight strike on their four-match losing rut. Likewise, continuing on from their pre-season preparations, Digard’s side have lost 11 of their last 14 matchups in front of their own supporters.

As for the visitors, while Lyon might have opened up the new campaign in the midst of a wobble, Les Gones have come roaring back in a sensational fashion. Heading into October’s international break with a 2-0 win at home against Nantes, Pierre Sage’s men will simply be looking to carry on from where they left off earlier in the month. Opening October with a thumping performance on the European stage as they stormed their way to a 4-1 romp away at Scottish giants Rangers, Sunday’s guests have won each of their previous four consecutive appearances across all competitions. Getting their Europa League adventure underway with back-to-back victories, Lyon have also gained a reputation for their clinical performances in the final third. Including a 2-0 win against Olympiacos last month, Sage’s squad have recorded at least a pair of goals in all of their previous five outings across all fronts. Given what was a huge gulf in class prior to October’s fortnight interval, we are backing an away win here.
