In what is set to be a heavyweight Championship showdown on Friday night, Leeds will welcome Leicester to Elland Road.
Starting with the hosts, last seen putting in another professional display as they secured a 2-0 victory away at Plymouth, Leeds are in the midst of a stellar purple patch this season. Riding what has been an extended wave of momentum Daniel Farke has continued to receive a string of praise since arriving in Yorkshire last summer. Although the Whites might have signed off 2023 with back-to-back Championship defeats, the former Norwich boss has seen his squad come roaring back in a remarkable fashion. Winning 10 of their previous 11 straight appearances across all competitions, Leeds have also gained a fearsome reputation for their success on home soil. In fact, Farke’s side have not suffered a single defeat in front of their own supporters so far this season. Skyrocketing their way into the automatic promotion spots, Friday’s hosts will be desperate to make a major statement here. Really finding a clinical edge in the final third and winning all of their last three Championship showdowns by an aggregate score of 9-0, the Yorkshire-based outfit could be smelling a potential opportunity this weekend.
As for the visitors, while Leicester might have lost their Premier League status last season, the Foxes have continued on a stunning Championship romp this time around. Although Enzo Maresca’s men might have fallen to a shock 2-1 defeat at home against Middlesbrough last weekend, they are cruising their way to an immediate top-flight return. Making the trip to Elland Road on Friday night holding a commanding nine-point buffer at the top of the table, the former Manchester City coach will be calling on an immediate reply here. Nevertheless, collecting 12 points from their previous five Championship appearances, Leicester have also suffered just a pair of second-tier losses since way back on November 11th. Likewise, winning four of their last five contests away from the King Power, chances could come thick and fast here. However, it is worth highlighting, with the Foxes seeing seven of their previous nine away fixtures finish with both teams getting on the scoresheet, we are expecting a similar outcome from Yorkshire this weekend.
