Competition: Championship
Market: Leeds win
Odds: 2/5 @ Pribet
Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways on Wednesday night, Leeds will welcome QPR to Elland Road.
Starting with the hosts, while Leeds might have been smelling a golden chance when they arrived at St. Mary’s over the weekend, Daniel Farke’s side put in a flat performance on the road. Eventually slumping to a deserved 3-1 defeat against Southampton, the Whites will certainly be seeking an immediate response here. However, although the Yorkshire-based outfit might have seen their six-match Championship unbeaten run come to an abrupt end a few days ago, Leeds should still find the mood in their camp at a continued high. With their sights firmly set on securing a Premier League return this season, the former Norwich boss will be excited to make a return to home soil here. Last seen at Elland Road cruising their way to a 3-0 romp against Watford, Farke’s side are yet to suffer a single defeat in front of their own supporters since opening up the 2023/24 campaign. It should also be noted, the promotion hopefuls have not shipped just a single strike at Elland Road in over 300 minutes of action.
As for the visitors, while QPR might have entered September’s international break with an eye-catching 2-0 win away at Middlesbrough, Gareth Ainsworth’s side have largely come crashing back down to earth. Last seen over the weekend putting in a nightmare display on home soil as they slumped to a 3-1 loss at the hands of Coventry, the former Wycombe boss knows that he once again has a real uphill battle on his hands. Although the Hoops might have extended on their Championship status last season, it appears that QPR are already bracing themselves for another bottom-three scrap. Opening the midweek fixtures once again sat in the drop zone, Wednesday’s guests have claimed just a single victory from their previous eight appearances across all formats. With that run stemming all the way back to August 12th, QPR should also be worried by a woeful record at Elland Road. In fact, the relegation scrappers have lost their previous three trips to Yorkshire by an aggregate score of 6-1.
