Two sides who find themselves in the midst of their own Premiership nightmares, Livingston will welcome Dundee United to the Almondvale Stadium on Wednesday night.
Starting with the hosts, once again putting in another woeful display over the weekend, Livingston are enduring a continued struggle. Eventually getting blown away on home soil as they were hit with a 4-1 drumming at the hands of Hibernian, there is growing pressure on David Martindale’s shoulders. Freefalling their way into the bottom-half of the Premiership standings, the Lions have now lost each of their last four domestic showdowns by an aggregate score of 11-1. With their recent crisis highlighted by a remarkable 3-0 defeat against Championship outfit Inverness on February 11th, it is no surprise that Livingston have gained a reputation for their rather glaring struggles at the back. Including a 3-0 defeat against Celtic when opening February, it should be noted that Martindale’s side have recorded just a single clean sheet since the start of January.
As for the visitors, while Dundee United might have stunned many last season as they claimed a fourth-place finish, the Terrors have come crashing back down to earth in some style. Sat rock-bottom of the Premiership table and tipped as a landslide pick to lose their top-flight status in 2023, Jim Goodwin’s men have now lost each of their last seven straight domestic matchups across all formats. Last seen putting in another nightmare display as they were hit with a 3-1 drumming at home against Aberdeen over the weekend, Dundee have also shown their own glaring defensive issues. Signing off February with an infamous 4-0 defeat away at Ross County, Goodwin’s side have shipped 15 strikes on their seven-match losing run. With just a single clean sheet to their name since way back on January 2nd, we’re backing over 1.5 goals on Wednesday night.
