Competition: Ligue 1

Market: Lyon win

Odds: 19/20 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on what has been a stellar start to the 2022/23 campaign, Lyon will make the trip to Lorient on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Lorient might have found themselves at the heart of a relegation scrap last season, Les Merlus appear to have put those issues behind them. Last seen over the weekend picking up a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Ajaccio, Régis Le Bris’s men have lost just one of their opening five Ligue 1 matchups. Making an immediate return to winning ways after that action-packed 5-2 defeat at the hands of Lens on August 31st, the Reds will be desperate to cause an upset on Wednesday night. However, winning just a trio of their last nine Ligue 1 contests on home soil continuing on from last season, Lorient should also be worried by their most recent meeting against the midweek guests. When the two sides last faced off on March 4th, Lyon picked up a thumping 4-1 romp at the Stade du Moustoir.

As for the visitors, although Lyon might have failed to secure another European finish last season, Les Gones are in the midst of a real purple patch. Laying down a real marker over the weekend as they stormed their way to a thumping 5-0 romp against Angers on home soil, Peter Bosz’s men should find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Opening the 2022/23 campaign by picking up a 2-1 win against Ajaccio at the Groupama Stadium, the Whites have mustered 13 points from their opening five Ligue 1 outings. With their eye-catching start highlighted by a 4-1 victory against Troyes on August 19th, Lyon have continued to gain a string of praise for their free-scoring displays in the final third. Landing that 4-1 win in their last trip to the Stade du Moustoir, we’re backing a similar away win on Wednesday night.

Bet: Lyon 19/20 to beat Lorient in Wednesday’s Ligue 1 matchup @ 888sport
