Bitesize Prediction: Luton vs Derby – 26/02/22

Competition: Championship

Market: Luton win

Odds: 20/23 @ 888sport

Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Championship table, Luton will host relegation scrappers Derby on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, putting in another hugely impressive display earlier in the week as they secured a 2-1 win away at Stoke, Luton have once again shocked many across the Championship. With the mood in Nathan Jones’ camp at a red-hot high, the Hatters now have their sights firmly set on securing a play-off spot this year. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat just two points adrift of breaking into the top-six, they have now won five of their previous six matchups across all formats. With their recent purple patch highlighted by a 2-0 win at home against promotion contenders West Brom, Luton have also continued to shine on home soil. Knowing that they have a golden chance to lay down another play-off marker here, Saturday’s hosts are unbeaten at Kenilworth Road since way back on November 27th.

As for the visitors, while Derby might still find themselves looking to pull off a great escape this season, the Rams should be bracing themselves for a tough test here. Last seen earlier in the week getting hit with a 2-1 loss at home against Millwall, Wayne Rooney’s men have managed to win just a pair of their last seven outings. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat eight points adrift of finding a route out of the bottom-three, the former Manchester United icon has also seen his side gain a reputation for their struggles on the road. Last seen away from Pride Park getting hit with a 4-1 drumming at the hands of Middlesbrough, it should be highlighted that Derby have lost each of their last four away fixtures. Two sides battling it out at opposite ends of the Championship table, we’re backing a home victory for Luton here.
