Competition: League Two

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 2/5 @ 888sport

Hoping to try and find a route into the play-off places on Wednesday night, Mansfield will welcome Grimsby to Field Mill.

Starting with the hosts, while Mansfield might still have their sights set on securing a play-off spot this season, the Stags are enduring a recent wobble. Although Nigel Clough’s men might have snatched a last-gasp 1-1 draw away at Stockport last time out, the Nottinghamshire-based outfit have claimed just a single win from their last four League Two outings. With their recent struggles highlighted by an action-packed 5-2 loss at the hands of Salford last month, the one-time Burton boss should also have a headache over his side’s issues on home soil. Including a shock 3-2 defeat against Barrow on January 7th, Mansfield have won just a pair of their previous six showdowns at Field Mill. Likewise, it should also be highlighted, Clough’s side have seen each of their last nine straight home fixtures finish with over 1.5 goals.

As for the visitors, after watching their famous FA Cup adventure come to an end last weekend, Grismby should be glad to turn their attention back to League Two duties here. Eventually slumping to a 5-0 drumming at the hands of Premier League high-flyers Brighton, Paul Hurst’s men will know that they face another tough test on Wednesday night. However, while the ex-Southend boss might find his side sat in fourth-tier limbo, they have claimed back-to-back victories against Sutton and Rochdale. Likewise, clinching a shock 2-0 win when they welcomed Mansfield to Blundell Park for an EFL Trophy showdown on September 20th, neutrals will be hoping for another enjoyable affair in midweek. With Hurst’s side seeing nine of their last 10 away fixtures finish with over 1.5 goals, we are expecting a similar outcome here.

Bet: Over 1.5 goals at Mansfield vs Grimsby 2/5 for Wednesday’s League Two matchup @ 888sport
