Competition: Ligue 1

Odds: 4/6 @ 888sport
In another Ligue 1 showdown that could see chances come thick and fast, Marseille will welcome Lyon to the Stade Vélodrome on Sunday night.
Starting with the hosts, coming off the back of an action-packed 3-2 defeat away at Dutch outfit Feyenoord earlier in the week, Marseille will be seeking an immediate boost here. Showing some worrying defensive issues while on Europa Conference League duties, Head Coach Jorge Sampaoli does still find his side in pole position to clinch a Champions League return this season. Currently sat second in the Ligue 1 standings, there is no doubt that a huge part of Marseille’s success this year has been thanks to their stellar run on home soil. Last seen at the Stade Vélodrome picking up a 3-2 victory against Nantes on April 20th, it should be highlighted that Sunday’s hosts have now won each of their last five home fixtures across all formats, bagging at least a pair of strikes in each of those five consecutive victories.
As for the visitors, managing to make a thumping return to winning ways last weekend as they stormed their way to a 5-2 win against Montpellier on home soil, Lyon are seeking some stability. Crashing out of the Europa League thanks to a second-leg 3-0 defeat against Premier League outfit West Ham earlier in the month, Head Coach Peter Bosz has seen his side win just a pair of their last six matchups across all formats. In the midst of what has become somewhat of a rollercoaster campaign at the Groupama Stadium, Sunday’s guests are almost sat in Ligue 1 limbo. Knowing that they need a minor miracle if they’re to claim another European finish, it should be noted that Lyon have gained a reputation for their lively outcomes. With each of their last three away fixtures finishing with both teams finding the net, we’re backing a similar outcome.
