Bitesize Prediction: Midtjylland vs Benfica – 09/08/22

Competition: Champions League qualifying

Market: Benfica win

Odds: 3/4 @ 888sport

Simply looking to finish off the job and extend on their Champions League qualifying adventure on Tuesday evening, Benfica will make the trip to Midtjylland.

Starting with the hosts, blown away when they made the trip out to Portugal last week and eventually leaving the Estádio da Luz on the wrong end of a 4-1 loss, Midtjylland need a real miracle here. Knowing that they will face a huge task when Benfica arrives in town on Tuesday evening, the Wolves also failed to pick up any real momentum a few days ago. Having to settle for an action-packed 3-3 draw away at Lyngby while on domestic duties, the Danish giants are enduring a stuttering start to the 2022/23 Superliga campaign. Mustering just four points from their opening five top-flight appearances, it should also be highlighted that Midtjylland have shown some extended European issues on home soil. Including a 4-0 drumming against Italian outfit Atalanta in October 2020, the Herning-based side have won just one of their last six Champions League showdowns at the MCH Arena.

As for the visitors, breezing their way to that 4-1 first-leg victory at the Estádio da Luz last week, Benfica are in the midst of what has become a stellar summer run. Opening up Portugal’s Primeira Liga campaign over the weekend with a 4-0 win against Arouca on home soil, Head Coach Roger Schmidt should find the mood in his camp at a real high. Enjoying a rampant pre-season run that saw them win each of their six friendly matchups, the Eagles also bagged victories against the likes of Fulham and Newcastle. Really finding a clinical edge in the final third and bagging eight strikes in their back-to-back competitive appearances, Benfica will simply be looking to finish off the job here. Dominating their first-leg meeting in Lisbon last week, we’re backing an away victory for Schmidt’s high-flyers here.

Bet: Benfica 3/4 to beat Midtjylland in Tuesday’s Champions League qualifying second-leg @ 888sport
