Bitesize Prediction: Midtjylland vs Lazio – 15/09/22

Competition: Europa League

Market: Lazio win

Odds: 10/11 @ 888sport

Looking to make it back-to-back Europa League victories on Thursday evening, Lazio will make the trip to Denmark when they meet Midtjylland.

Starting with the hosts, while Midtjylland might have managed to secure themselves another European tour this season, the Wolves are in the midst of what has been a nightmare run of form. Opening up this year’s Europa League campaign with a sluggish 1-0 loss away at Sturm Graz, it appears there is growing pressure on Albert Capellas’ shoulders. Mustering just 10 points from their opening nine Superliga showdowns, the Danish giants are some way off the pace. Failing to pick up any momentum over the weekend as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Nordsjælland, FCM have remarkably managed to win just one of their previous nine matchups across all formats. Likewise, it should also be highlighted, Midtjylland have lost each of their last four home outings by an aggregate score of 8-2.

As for the visitors, while Lazio might have been frustrated by their 2-1 loss at the hands of Napoli earlier in the month, the Biancocelesti have managed to prove that was just a minor blip. Opening their Europa League adventure with a thumping 4-2 victory against Feyenoord last week, Maurizio Sarri’s men also picked up some perfect momentum over the weekend. Last seen a few days ago picking up a deserved 2-0 win at home against Verona, the one-time Chelsea boss has seen his side lose just a single outing so far this season. With their eye-catching start to the 2022/23 campaign highlighted by a stellar 3-1 romp against Italian giants Inter Milan on August 26th, Lazio should be smelling another chance here. Given Midtjylland’s extended nightmare, we’re backing an away victory on Thursday evening.
