Competition: Championship
Market: Millwall win
Odds: 21/20 @ Pribet
Looking to extend on their recent Championship purple patch, Millwall will welcome Plymouth to south London on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, while Millwall might have only seen Neil Harris return to the club back in February, the Lions have dragged themselves away from a looming relegation scrap. Enjoying what has been their most fruitful spell since opening the New Year, the south London outfit should be smelling the chance to make another statement here. Skyrocketing their way up the Championship table and eventually breezing their way to second-tier safety, Harris’ men should find the mood in their camp at a season-high. Last seen putting in another rugged performance as they clinched a 1-0 victory away at Sunderland, Millwall have won all of their previous three Championship appearances on the bounce. With their eye-catching flurry underlined by a stellar 1-0 victory against leading promotion contenders Leicester, Saturday’s hosts have also continued to shine on home soil. Including a 3-1 romp against Cardiff earlier in the month, the Lions have collected 13 points from their last five Championship showdown in south London.
As for the visitors, although Plymouth might have opened April with a crucial boost, the Pilgrims certainly came crashing back down to earth in a worrying fashion last time out. Putting in a nightmare performance away at Stoke as they slumped to a 3-0 drumming, the Devon-based outfit are firmly at the heart of a relegation scrap. Opening Saturday’s trip to the capital sat holding just a two-point buffer from slipping into the relegation zone, Plymouth should also be concerned by their extended issues away from Home Park. Including a 1-0 defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday last month, the Greens have collected just a single away victory over the past two months. It should also be noted, along with suffering a 2-0 defeat when they welcomed Millwall to Devon for their reverse Championship showdown on October 3rd, they have lost all of their previous four consecutive meetings by an aggregate score of 11-5.
