Bitesize Prediction: Millwall vs Rotherham – 20/09/23

Competition: Championship

Market: Millwall win

Odds: 3/4 @ Pribet

Looking to claim a much-needed boost on Wednesday night, Millwall will welcome Rotherham to south London.

Starting with the hosts, marking their return from September’s international break with a nightmare display on home soil, Millwall certainly have the feel of a squad seeking s crucial boost. Eventually blown away in south London as they slumped to a 3-0 drumming at the hands of Leeds, the Lions have struggled to find any kind of stability since opening up the 2023/24 campaign. Despite opening proceedings on August 5th with a 1-0 victory away at Middlesbrough, Gary Rowett’s men have claimed just a pair of Championship victories from their first six attempts. Looking over the shoulder at the drop zone and desperate to kickstart their campaign here, Millwall should at least be excited by an eye-catching record against Wednesday’s guests. Landing a routine 3-0 romp when they last welcomed Rotherham to south London back on New Year’s Day, the Blues have collected 10 points from their previous four Championship meetings. Likewise, Rowett’s side have suffered just a single defeat against the Millers on home soil since way back in January 2005.

As for the visitors, while Rotherham might have eventually clung to their Championship status last season, it appears that Matt Taylor’s men are bracing themselves for another uphill struggle this time around. Making an immediate return to losing ways over the weekend as they slumped to a toothless 2-0 loss at the hands of Huddersfield, the Yorkshire-based outfit are tipped as a leading relegation contender his season. Signing off August with a woeful 6-1 drumming at the hands of Stoke as they came crashing out of the EFL Cup, the former Exeter boss has seen his struggling squad lose four of their previous five meetings against Championship opposition. Likewise, losing each of their opening four away fixtures by an aggregate score of 14-3, the Millers should also be worried by their continued struggles against Wednesday’s hosts. Hit with that 3-0 loss when they travelled to south London on New Year’s Day, we are expecting a similar home victory here.

Bet: Millwall 3/4 to beat Rotherham in Wednesday’s Championship contest @ Pribet
