Competition: US Open Cup

Market: Philadelphia Union double chance

Odds: 7/11 @ 888sport

Hoping to secure back-to-back domestic victories and extend on their US Open Cup run in midweek, Philadelphia will make the trip to Minnesota in the early hours of Wednesday.

Starting with the hosts, while Minnesota might have extended on their US Open Cup adventure last month thanks to a 3-1 victory away at USL outfit Detroit, it appears that was just a minor boost for Adrian Heath’s side. While the Loons might have claimed yet another play-off spot in the Western Conference last season, the Saint Paul-based outfit have failed to match a similar level this time around. Last seen over the weekend when putting in another worrying display as they suffered a lively 3-2 loss away at Vancouver, the ex-Orland boss has seen his side muster just a single point from any of their last five MLS appearances. With that run stemming all the way back to April 1st, Wednesday’s hosts have also continued to show some real issues on home soil. Last seen at Allianz Field playing out a 0-0 stalemate against Dallas when signing off April, Minnesota have remarkably failed to pick up a single home win since opening the 2023 campaign.

As for the visitors, making an immediate return to winning ways over the weekend and showing no signs of a continental hangover, Philadelphia are tipped as one of the leading contenders to defend their Eastern Conference crown this season. Eventually picking up an eye-catching 1-0 victory against the New York Red Bulls, Jim Curtin’s men have lost just one of their last six appearances across all competitions. Despite being left heartbroken on May 2nd as they watched their Concacaf Champions League adventure come to an end at the hands of MLS rivals LAFC, the Chester-based outfit should be relishing a trip to Minnesota here. Although Philadelphia might have recorded just a single clean sheet since the start of April, Curtin’s side will be excited by an impressive record against their Eastern Conference foes. Losing just one of their last six meetings against Wednesday’s hosts, an away double chance can be found at appealing odds in midweek.

Bet: Philadelphia Union double chance against Minnesota 7/11 for Wednesday’s US Open Cup tie @ 888sport
