Competition: MLS
Market: Real Salt Lake double chance
Odds: 7/10 @ 888sport
Looking to try and make up some ground at the top of the Western Conference, Real Salt Lake will make the trip to Allianz Field in the early hours of Monday.
Starting with the hosts, managing to pick up what was a shock victory on their travels earlier in the week, Minnesota will be desperate to build off of that momentum here. Eventually picking up a lively 3-2 win away at LA Galaxy, the Loons managed to draw a line under their four-match domestic losing run. However, still sat outside the play-off places in the Western Conference and knowing that they face a real test here, Head Coach Adrian Heath will have a headache over his side’s struggles on home soil. Crashing out of the US Open Cup thanks to a downbeat 2-1 loss at the hands of USL outfit Union Omaha, Minnesota have now suffered back-to-back domestic defeats at Allianz Field. Likewise, it should also be highlighted, Heath’s squad have failed to win any of their last four meetings against Monday’s guests.
As for the visitors, last seen having to settle for what was a disappointing 0-0 stalemate against Columbus, Real Salt Lake will be seeking an immediate response here. Still battling it out at the top of the Western Conference, Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni has seen his side gain plenty of praise from across America this season. Suffering just a single defeat from any of their last six domestic showdowns, a run that stems back to May 5th, RSL have also gained somewhat of a reputation for their displays at the back. Along with landing a thumping 3-0 romp against Houston back on May 28th, it should be highlighted that Salt Lake have recorded a clean sheet in three of their last four contests. While Mastroeni’s men might have shown some extended inconsistencies on the road this season, we’re backing an away double chance the early hours of Monday.
