Two sides who should find the moods in their camp at a real high, Nantes will welcome Rennes to the Stade de la Beaujoire on Wednesday night.
Starting with the hosts, managing to put in a famous display a few days ago as they claimed this season’s Coupe de France title, Nantes are in the midst of a real purple patch. Eventually picking up a 1-0 victory against Nice, Head Coach Antoine Kombouaré has seen his side lose just one of their last seven domestic contests. With their eye-catching run of form stemming all the way back to February 19th, the Yellow House have also found a route into the top-half of the Ligue 1 table. Making a string of improvements after only just hanging onto their top-flight status last season, Nantes have also gained a fearsome reputation for their success on home soil. Last seen in Pays de la Loire picking up an action-packed 5-3 win against Bordeaux, Wednesday’s hosts have lost just a single contest in front of their own supporters since the start of December.
As for the visitors, while Rennes might have been disappointed by their back-to-back defeats against Monaco and Strasbourg last month, it does appear that Bruno Génésio’s men have put those issues behind them. Including a 5-0 romp at home against Lorient on April 24th, Les Rennais have lost just a pair of their previous nine domestic contests. Making the trip to the Stade de la Beaujoire on Wednesday night sat just three points adrift of breaking into the Champions League spots, the Reds have also gained a reputation for their lively outcomes on the road. Including an action-packed 4-2 victory away at Lyon earlier in the year, it should be highlighted that Rennes have seen each of their previous four Ligue 1 away fixtures finish with both teams finding the net.
