Competition: Serie A
Market: Over 1.5 goals
Odds: 4/11 @ Pribet
With plenty of pressure on their shoulders this weekend, Napoli will welcome Bologna to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Napoli might have got a new era underway this summer following the arrival of Antonio Conte, the Blues opened the 2024/25 campaign with a nightmare performance. Slumping to what was an infamous 3-0 drumming at the hands of Verona, the former Tottenham boss will be demanding an immediate response here. However, enduring what was a public Serie A crisis last season as they only just dragged themselves to a top-half finish, Napoli remarkably recorded just a single victory from any of their final 11 matchups across all competitions prior to the summer break. Watching their Champions League adventure come to an end following a 4-2 aggregate defeat against Barcelona, Conte’s side have also continued to show some glaring defensive struggles. In fact, extending on from last season, the Azzurri have registered just a sole clean sheet against Serie A opposition since way back on January 18th.
As for the visitors, while Napoli might have found themselves at the heart of a domestic nightmare last season, Bologna broke a string of records. Enjoying what was a famous fairytale at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara as they clinched an iconic Champions League ticket, the Greyhounds have rightfully received a string of plaudits from across the continent. Now under the guidance of new boss Vincenzo Italiano, Sunday’s guests have lost just one of their previous 11 Serie A appearances on either side of the summer break – a run that stems back to before March’s international break. Despite opening proceedings last weekend with a downbeat 1-1 stalemate at home against Udinese, Bologna will certainly be excited by their most recent trip to Naples. Landing a stellar 2-0 victory when they last met Napoli back on May 11th, Italiano will be calling on a repeat performance here.
