Two sides who are enjoying their own extended purple patches, Nashville will welcome Inter Miami to Geodis Park in the early hours of Thursday.
Starting with the hosts, while Nashville might have been forced to settle for a 1-1 draw away at DC United last weekend, the Music are in the midst of what has been a stellar run of form. Opening May with a thumping performance as they stormed their way to a 3-0 romp against Chicago, Gary Smith’s side have once again impressed many across the MLS in opening the 2023 campaign. Once again tipped as a leading contender to claim another play-off spot this season, the Tennessee-based outfit are riding what has been a major wave of momentum. Now unbeaten in each of their last six straight domestic appearances, Nashville have also gained a reputation for their continued success on home soil. Including an eye-catching 3-1 victory against former MLS champions Atlanta on April 29th, Smith’s side have won their previous four showdowns at Geodis Park – a run that has seen them muster nine goals.
As for the visitors, while Inter Miami might have endured a nightmare run when opening the 2023 campaign, Phil Neville’s side have come roaring back in some style. Last seen putting in another eye-catching display as they secured a 2-1 victory at home against New England, the one-time Everton midfielder has seen his side win each of their last five straight appearances across all competitions. Opening May with a 2-1 win against Atlanta, the Herons will be desperate to make another Eastern Conference statement in midweek. Finding a clinical edge in the final third, Miami will be calling on attacking talisman Josef Martinez to spearhead their charge here. With the 29-year-old notching three MLS strikes in as many appearances, Thursday’s guests have also gained a reputation for their lively outcomes. It should be noted, with Neville’s side seeing four of their last five appearances finish with both teams finding the net, we are expecting a similar outcome here.
