Competition: European Championship qualifying
Market: Norway win
Odds: 4/11 @ Pribet
Desperate to avoid what would be a major qualifying upset on Tuesday night, Norway will welcome Georgia to Oslo for a Group A showdown.
Starting with the hosts, while Norway might have opened their European Championship qualifying adventure earlier in the year with their sights set on punching a top-two ticket, it is no secret that the Lions face a major uphill battle over the next few months. Now scrapping it out against European giants and former world champions Spain, Stale Solbakken’s side will know that they can not afford a public slip-up here. However, signing off June’s international break with a much-needed 3-1 victory at home against Cyprus, the Reds certainly picked up some momentum last week. Marking their return to the international stage with a routine 6-0 romp at home against Jordan in a friendly showdown, Norway have found a recent clinical edge in the final third. Notching nine strike in their last two appearances across all competitions, Solbakken will be calling on attacking icon Erling Haaland to spearhead his charge here. Along with a brace against Cyprus back in June, the Manchester City hitman has six strikes in his opening four Premier League matchups since opening the 2023/24 campaign.
As for the visitors, while Georgia might have shocked many earlier in the year as they opened their European Championship adventure with four points from their first two Group A appearances, the Crusaders have certainly come crashing back down to earth. Along with signing off June’s international break with a routine 2-0 loss away at a high-flying Scotland, Willy Sagnol’s side were also last seen over the weekend putting in a nightmare performance on home soil. Eventually getting hit with a woeful 7-1 drumming at the hands of Spain, the former Bayern Munich boss will be more than aware that his squad faces another stern challenge in midweek. Now shipping nine strikes in their back-to-back qualifying appearances, Georgia are rightfully tipped as a major underdog when they travel to Oslo on Tuesday night. Hit with a 1-0 loss when they last travelled to their Group A rivals way back in 1999, we are backing a home victory here.
