Hoping to extend their stay in the play-off places, West Brom will travel to Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon when they meet Norwich.
Starting with the hosts, while Norwich might have opened up the 2024/25 campaign pencilled in as a standout contender to claim another play-off spots, the Canaries are enduring what has been a worrying rut. Last seen heading into March’s International break with a 2-1 loss away at Bristol City, it appears that Johannes Hoff Thorup has some serious pressure on his shoulders. With their recent issues underlined by an action-packed 3-2 defeat at home against Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the month, Norwich have mustered just a single win from any of their previous eight Championship appearances. With a 4-2 victory their only win since the start of February, Norwich have also failed to find any kind of stability on home soil. In fact, the Canaries have mustered just a pair of wins from any of their last seven showdowns at Carrow Road across all competitions – a run that stems back to a 2-1 victory against Coventry on January 4th.
As for the visitors, missing out on what they had billed as a real opportunity prior to March’s international break as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate at home against Hull, West Brom have now collected just a single point from three of their previous four Championship appearances. Along with mustering just a pair of wins from any of their last seven Championship appearances, Tony Mowbray’s men have remarkably failed to register consecutive wins since way back in September. Despite opening Saturday’s fixtures sat in the play-off places, the Baggies have continued to show some extended issues outside of the Midlands. Including a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of relegation scrappers Plymouth last month, West Brom have failed to win any of their last 12 consecutive matchups away from the Hawthorns across all competitions. With that run stemming all the way back to a 2-1 victory against Hull on November 10th, we could be treated to an enjoyable contest here.
