In what looks set to be a fiery derby showdown on Saturday lunchtime, Norwich will welcome Ipswich to Carrow Road.
Starting with the hosts, eventually falling to what was an action-packed 3-1 loss away at Leicester earlier in the week, Norwich will be excited to make a return to Carrow Road here. Continuing to shine since opening the New Year and skyrocketing their way up the Championship standings, David Wagner’s men are now sat in the driving seat to clinch a play-off ticket in 2024. Marking thier return from March’s international break with a 21 win against Plymouth, the Canaries have continued to gain a reputation for their extended success on home soil. Including a stellar 5-0 romp against Rotherham prior to the fortnight interval, Norwich have won all of their previous seven straight appearances in front of their own supporters – a run that stems all the way back to January 6th. Likewise, the former Huddersfield boss has not seen his side suffer a single defeat at Carrow Road since returning from November’s international break. It should also be highlighted, Saturday’s hosts have seen nine of their last 12 contests finish with both teams finding the net.
As for the visitors, while Ipswich might have only made their Championship return this season, the Blues are in the midst of what has become a stunning fairytale. Mounting a remarkable last-gasp comeback at home against Southampton earlier in the week as they secured a 3-2 victory against Southampton, Kieran McKenna’s men open Saturday’s trip to Carrow Road leading the chase at the top of the Championship table. Now tipped as a leading promotion contender, the former Manchester United coach has seen his record-breaking squad embark on another purple patch. Heading into March’s international break with a 6-0 romp against Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich have won their previous three appearances by an aggregate score pf 10-2. Likewise, the Championship leaders have won nine of their last 10 appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back to a 2-2 stalemate against West Brom on February 10th. With the two bitter rivals playing out a 2-2 draw when they met for their reverse meeting on December 16th, we could be treated to another action-packed affair here.
