Competition: CONCACAF Nations League
Market: Over 1.5 goals
Odds: 2/5 @ BetUS
Two camps who will be looking to extend on their Concaf Nations League final ticket in the early hours of Friday, Canada will travel to the Allegiant Stadium when they meet Panama.
Starting with the hosts, eventually cruising their way to the Nations League semi-finals earlier in the year after enjoying a stellar Group B romp, Costa Rica will be looking to make another statement here. Mustering 10 points from their four appearances and showing a major clinical edge in the final third, Los Canaleros were also last seen picking up another morale boost. Claiming an action-packed 3-2 win against Nicaragua in a friendly showdown last weekend, Thomas Christiansen’s men should also be excited by their continued success on home soil. In fact, on a run that is highlighted by a deserved 2-0 win against Costa Rica last year, Panama are remarkably unbeaten in each of their previous 11 straight showdowns in front of their own supporters – a run that stems all the way back to a 3-2 loss against Honduras in July 2021. It should also be noted, the Canal Men have seen seven of their last eight matchups at the Allegiant Stadium finish with over 1.5 goals.
As for the visitors, while Canada might have made their own piece of history over the winter as they returned to the World Cup stage, John Herdman’s men had little to cheer about in the Middle East. Including a 4-1 drumming at the hands of bronze medalists Croatia, the Reds lost each of their three group stage appearances by an aggregate score of 7-2. However, although Canada might have failed to make any kind of statement on the world stage, they did certainly bounce back during March’s international break. Last seen picking up a thumping 4-1 win at home against Honduras, Herdman’s side have secured back-to-back victories for the first time over the past 12 months. Despite being tipped as a standout pick here, Friday’s guests have shown some extended defensive issues. It should be noted, the one-time New Zealand coach has seen his squad muster just a single clean sheet from their last eight straight outings across all competitions.
