Competition: Copa Libertadores

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 1/2 @ Pribet

In what is a crucial Copa Libertadores showdown late on Tuesday night, Penarol will welcome Rosario to Montevideo for their final Group G contest.

Starting with the hosts, while Penarol might have opened their Copa Libertadores adventure with back-to-back defeats, Diego Aguirre’s men have come roaring back in a sensational fashion. Last seen in Group G action putting in a stellar performance as they secured a 2-0 victory at home against Brazilian outfit Atletico-MG, the one-time Sao Paulo boss should find the mood in his camp at a real high. Knowing that a single point will be enough to book their knockout stage ticket late on Tuesday night, the Montevideo-based outfit are rightfully pencilled in as a standout contender here. Picking up some perfect momentum over the weekend as they secured a 3-1 romp against Progesso, Penarol have now won all of their previous five consecutive appearances across all competitions. Enjoying their brightest run of the campaign, Aguirre’s side should also be excited by their continued success on home soil. Including a 3-0 victory against River Plate on April 30th, Tuesday’s hosts have won all of their last four showdowns in front of their own supporters by an aggregate score of 9-1.

As for the visitors, heading into their final Group G appearance sat two points adrift of breaking into the knockout spots, Rosario face what is a real must-win showdown on Tuesday night. However, although the Argentine outfit might have been last seen in Copa Libertadores action storming their way to a 4-1 romp against Caracas, the Rabble have shown some extended inconsistencies since opening up the 2024 campaign. Including an action-packed 3-2 loss at the hands of Argentinos Juniors, Miguel Rosso’s men have recorded just a pair of victories from any of their previous nine appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back to April 4th. Likewise, registering just a single win on their travels since the end of February, Rosario certainly have a real job on their hands here. However, it should be highlighted, with Tuesday’s guests seeing eight of their last nine outings finish with over 1.5 goals, we are expecting a similar outcome in midweek.

Bet: Over 1.5 goals at Penarol vs Rosario 1/2 for Tuesday’s Copa Libertadores showdown @ Pribet
