Competition: A-League

Odds: 5/6 @ BetUS
Still facing a real uphill battle in their bid to book a play-off ticket this season, Perth will welcome Western Sydney to HBF Park on Saturday morning.
Starting with the hosts, last seen mounting a dramatic late comeback at home against Newcastle as they clinched a 2-2 stalemate at HBF Park, Perth will be desperate to use that second-half performance as a platform to build on. While Alen Stajcic’s men might be seeking a minor miracle in their bid to punch a play-off ticket this season, the Glory do appear to have turned a welcomed corner since opening the New Year. Despite opening March with a 1-0 loss away at Western United, that is the only defeat that Perth have suffered from any of their previous eight A-League appearances. Skyrocketing themselves off the foot of the table, Saturday’s hosts should be smelling the chance to make a statement here. With their recent turn in fortune underlined by an action-packed 4-2 victory against former champions Melbourne City on February 2nd, it should also be highlighted that Stajcic’s side are unbeaten in their last four A-League battles at HBF Park.
As for the visitors, while Western Sydney might have opened the New Year firmly leading the chase to claim another play-off ticket, Marko Rudan’s men are at the heart of a public A-League crisis. Putting in a woeful performance earlier in the week and rightfully coming under a huge amount of scrutiny, the Wanderers eventually slumped to an infamous 7-0 drumming at the hands of Melbourne City. Tumbling down the table, the former Wellington boss has also seen his squad lose four of their previous five appearances. Likewise, losing all of their three March showdowns by an aggregate score of 14-2, it is no surprise that Western Sydney have gained a reputation for their glaring defensive struggles. With their nightmare blip underlined by a 4-1 defeat at home against Sydney earlier in the month, Saturday’s guests have recorded just a single win from any of their last seven outings. Suffering a 1-0 loss when they travelled to HBF Park last season, we are backing a home draw no bet here.
