Competition: League One

Market: Peterborough win

Odds: 4/5 @ Pribet

Two sides who find themselves scrapping it out in the League One play-off chase, Peterborough will welcome Stevenage to London Road on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Peterborough might have suffered play-off heartbreak last season, Darren Ferguson’s men are sat firmly in the driving seat to punch another top-six finish. Last seen over the weekend putting in another eye-catching display as they stormed their way to a 3-1 romp away at Burton, the Posh are riding a major wave of momentum. Despite enduring a February blip, the Cambridgeshire-based outfit have come roaring back in a remarkable fashion. Including a 5-1 romp against Northampton earlier in the month, Ferguson’s side have won all of their previous five appearances across all competitions. Punching an EFL Trophy final spot on February 20th as they secured a stellar 3-0 victory away at Blackpool, Peterborough have also found a real clinical edge in the final third. Notching 14 goals on their five-match winning run and opening Wednesday’s fixtures holding a commanding eight-point buffer in the play-off chase, the Blues will be desperate to make another statement at London Road.

As for the visitors, although Stevenage might have signed off February with back-to-back 1-0 victories against Cambridge and Wycombe, Steve Evans’ men are seeking some recent stability. Although the Boro might still find themselves sat in the play-off chase, the former Gillingham boss has seen his side muster just a pair of victories from any of their previous eight appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back to February 3rd. Putting in another toothless display over the weekend as they eventually had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate at home against Fleetwood, Wednesday’s guests should face a stern examination here. Likewise, drawing consecutive League One blanks for the first time since the middle of October, Evans will have somewhat of a headache over his side’s struggles in the final third. It should also be highlighted, with Stevenage mustering just two wins from their last eight showdowns away from the Lamex Stadium, we are backing a home victory here.
