Competition: League One

Market: Portsmouth win

Odds: 2/5 @ 1xBet

Simply looking to extend their buffer at the top of the League One table, Portsmouth will welcome Burton to Fratton Park on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Portsmouth might have eventually been forced to settle for a 0-0 stalemate away at Blackpool over the weekend, the Blues are enjoying a remarkable League One romp this season. With the mood around Fratton Park at a red-hot high, John Musinho’s men have continued to receive a string of plaudits from across England’s third-tier. Opening March with a 2-1 victory against Oxford, Pompey hold a five-point buffer at the top of the table and are rightfully tipped as a landslide promotion contender in 2024. In fact, Musinho’s side are unbeaten in all of their previous 10 straight appearances across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to January 13th. Smelling a golden opportunity here, Portsmouth will also be excited by their extended purple patch on home soil. Including a 4-1 romp against Reading on February 17th, it should that Tuesday’s hosts have won all of their last four showdowns at Fratton Park by an aggregate score of 13-4.

As for the visitors, last seen over the weekend putting in another worrying display as they slumped to a routine 3-1 drumming at home against Peterborough, Burton find themselves in the midst of a major League One struggle this season. At the heart of a third-tier relegation scrap, Martin Paterson appears to have a real job on his hands at the Pirelli Stadium. Signing off February with a 1-0 loss against fellow strugglers Carlisle, the Brewers will be bracing themselves for a heavyweight challenge here. Opening the midweek fixtures looking over their shoulder at the drop zone, Burton should also be worried by a nightmare record against Portsmouth. Hit with a 2-0 loss when they welcomed the League One leaders to Staffordshire for their reverse showdown on November 28th, they have lost all of their previous four meetings by an aggregate score of 7-1. Two sides battling it out at opposite ends of the table, we are expecting a home victory at Fratton Park.
