Competition: League One
Market: Portsmouth win
Odds: 21/20 @ 888sport
Looking to make it three League One victories on the bounce this weekend, Portsmouth will welcome Port Vale to Fratton Park on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, while Portsmouth might have endured a brief wobble earlier in the month, John Mousinho’s side have come roaring back. Along with cruising their way to a routine 3-1 victory away at Accrington Stanley on March 14th, the Blues were last seen putting in another eye-catching display. Eventually picking up a 2-0 win at home against Bristol Rovers, the south coast outfit should be looking to make another third-tier statement this weekend. Although Pompey might be needing a minor miracle if they are to find a route into the play-off places this season, Saturday’s hosts have lost just a pair of their last nine appearances across all competitions. With that run stemming all the way back to February 11th, Portsmouth have also largely impressed with their success on home soil. It should be highlighted, including a 4-0 win against Cheltenham on February 25th, Mousinho’s men have lost just one of their last seven showdowns at Fratton Park.
As for the visitors, putting in a nightmare display on home soil last weekend as they were hit with a 3-2 loss against Burton, Port Vale find themselves in the midst of an extended rut. Despite claiming a 1 -0 victory at home against MK Dons on March 4th, Darrell Clarke’s side have won just a pair of their previous eight appearances across all formats. Facing what should be a tough trip to Fratton Park on Saturday afternoon, the Valliants have also gained a reputation for their continued struggles on the road. Including another 3-2 defeat at the hands of Shrewsbury last month, Port Vale have recorded just a single win outside of Stoke-on-Trent since way back on December 2nd. With Pompey claiming a 1-0 win when they two sides met for their reverse meeting back in August, we are expecting a similar home victory here.
