With their immediate Premier League already returned Leicester will travel to Deepdale on Monday night when they meet Preston.
Starting with the hosts, while Preston might have opened up the New Year with some in their camp dreaming of the chance to book a stunning play-off ticket, the Lilywhites are in the midst of an extended rut. Last seen putting in another downbeat performance as they slumped a 1-0 loss away at QPR, Ryan Lowe’s side have now lost all of their previous three Championship appearances on the bounce. Enduring their longest second-tier losing run since the end of November, the former Plymouth boss will also have a mounting headache over his side’s extended struggles in the final third. Including a routine 3-0 hammering at the hands of Southampton on April 16th, Preston have failed to find the net in all of their three consecutive Championship defeats. Likewise, along with winning just one of their previous six second-tier outings, Lowe’s side have also drawn a blank in five of those six showdowns.
As for the visitors, with their immediate Premier League return officially confirmed over the weekend, Leicester will certainly travel to Deepdale with a real party atmosphere in their camp. While the Foxes might be dealing with some public financial issues behind the scenes at the King Power, Enzo Maresca’s men have won four of their previous six Championship appearances. However, potentially showing some signs of an emotional hangover on Monday night, the one-time Manchester City coach has seen his squad gain a reputation for their extended issues on the road. Last seen on their travels suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Plymouth, Leicester have lost all of their previous four straight away fixtures across all competitions. In fact, the Foxes have lost all of their last three Championship showdowns away from the King Power by a 1-0 scoreline. It should also be highlighted, Maresca’s side have failed to record a Championship goal on their travels in almost 300 minutes of action.
