Competition: Chinese Super League

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 4/7 @ BetUS

In what is a real relegation six-pointer at the foot of the Super League table, Qingdao West Coast will welcome Cangzhou to Shandong on Friday lunchtime.

Starting with the hosts, although Qingdao West Coast might have made their Super League return this season, Shao Jiayi’s men face a real battle in the race to keep hold of their top-flight status. Opening August in the midst of a real struggle, it is only their goal difference that currently keeps them outside of the drop zone. Signing off July with a 2-1 defeat away at Tianjin Jinmen Tiger, the Yellows have recorded just a single Super League victory from any of their previous 10 appearances. With that run stemming all the way back to a 2-1 win against Shenzhen Xinpengcheng, Friday’s hosts have also continued to show some glaring defensive issues. Crashing out of the FA Cup on July 17th following a 4-0 drumming at home against local rivals Shandong Taishan, Qingdao have failed to muster a single domestic clean sheet since the start of May.

As for the visitors, while some in Cangzhou’s camp might have opened up the 2024 campaign with their sights set on clinching a top-half finish, the Blues are at the heart of their own respective flurry. Although Li Xiaopeng’s men might have suffered just a single defeat from any of their first six Super League appearances, they have come crashing back down to earth in a spectacular fashion. Including a woeful 5-0 drumming at the hands of Shanghai Shenhua on July 22nd, the Hebei-based outfit have failed to muster a single victory from any of their previous 16 consecutive appearances across all competitions – a rut that stems back to a 3-2 win against Qingdao West Coast on April 14th. Signing off June with back-to-back 4-0 defeats against Beijing Guoan and Chengdu Rongcheng, Friday’s guests have also shown their own rather glaring defensive struggles.

Bet: Both teams to score at Qingdao West Coast vs Cangzhou 4/7 for Friday’s Chinese Super League battle @ BetUS
