Competition: Chinese Super League

Market: Goal to be scored in both halves

Odds: 8/13 @ BetUS

In what could prove to be an enjoyable Super League showdown on Tuesday lunchtime, Qingdao West Coast will welcome Shandong to town.

Starting with the hosts, coming from behind twice last week as they eventually snatched a 2-2 stalemate at home against Tianjin Jinmen, Qingdao West Coast have enjoyed an action-packed start to the new campaign. Dreaming of the chance to mount a genuine to-half charge this season, Shao Jiayi’s men are unbeaten in all of their first five Super League appearances. Getting proceedings underway on February 23rd with another 2-2 draw away at Qingdao Hainiu, the Yellows will be excited by their free-scoring performances in the final third. Landing a dramatic 3-2 victory away at Henan Songshan Longmen, the former China coach has seen his squad bag 12 goals in their first five outings. However, signing off March with a remarkable 3-3 stalemate against Shanghai Port, Jiayi’s side know the importance of finding some crucial defensive steel. In fact, continuing on from last season, Qingdao West Coast have mustered just a sole clean sheet from their previous 10 Super League showdowns.

As for the visitors, enjoying what has become a real Super League romp, Shandong Taishan are dreaming of the chance to clinch a lucrative AFC Champions League spot this season. Putting in what was a sensational performance over the weekend as they cruised their way to a 4-0 victory at home against Shenzhen Xinpengcheng, Choi Kang-hee’s men have suffered just a sole defeat from their first six appearances. Signing off March with an action-packed 4-3 victory away at Meizhou Hakka, Shandong have also enjoyed a clinical edge in the final third. Including a stellar 4-1 win against Dalian Ningbo on February 28th, Tuesday’s guests have notched 14 goals in just their last five outings. Looking to extend on their recent charge here, Kang-hee’s camp will certainly be excited by their most recent trip to Qingdao. Landing a dominant 4-0 romp when they travelled to the midweek hosts last season, we could be treated to another enjoyable Super League battle.
