Bitesize Prediction: QPR vs Birmingham – 18/03/23

Competition: Championship

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 2/5 @ 888sport

Two sides who are desperately seeking some recent stability, QPR will welcome Birmingham to west London on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while QPR might have managed to claim a much-needed 1-0 victory at home against Watford last weekend, Gareth Ainsworth’s new squad came crashing back down to earth a few days ago. Putting in what was a nightmare display on the road and coming under a huge amount of scrutiny, the former Wycombe boss saw his side get hit with a stunning 6-1 defeat against Blackpool. Continuing to freefall down the Championship table, the Hoops have also claimed just a single win from any of their last 15 straight matchups across all formats – a run that stems all the way back to December 17th. Likewise, opening March with another woeful performance as they slumped to a 3-1 loss away at Rotherham, Ainsworth has quite the job on his hands in west London. It should also be noted, QPR have mustered just a single clean sheet since opening 2023.

As for the visitors, although Birmingham might have snatched a 2-0 victory at home against Rotherham last weekend, it appears that might have just been a minor boost for John Eustace’s side. Almost sat in an identical position to Saturday’s opponents, the Blues also put in their own nightmare display in midweek. Eventually getting hit with a 3-0 drumming at the hands of play-off contenders Watford, they have now claimed just a single win from their previous seven attempts – a run that stems back to February 10th. With their recent issues highlighted by a shock 2-1 loss at the hands of fellow strugglers Huddersfield, Eustace’s side have also collected just one-point from their last four Championship battles away from St. Andrew’s. With each of the last four meetings between QPR and Birmingham finishing with over 1.5 goals, we are backing a similar outcome here.

Bet: Over 1.5 goals at QPR vs Birmingham 2/5 for Saturday’s Championship showdown @ 888sport
