Competition: Bundesliga
Market: RB Leipzig win
Odds: 2/3 @ BetUS
Looking to sign off their Bundesliga campaign with a flurry at the Red Bull Arena, RB Leipzig will welcome Schalke to town on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, putting in a famous display away at defending champions Bayern Munich last weekend, RB Leipzig have stormed their way to another top-four finish this season. Securing Champions League football after claiming a stellar 3-1 romp on their travels, Marco Rose’s side have only continued on a stellar purple patch since returning from March’s international break. Punching their DFP Pokal final ticket earlier in the month as they claimed a remarkable 5-1 victory away at Freiburg, it should be highlighted that the Red Bulls have now won each of their last five straight domestic appearances by an aggregate score of 12-3. Likewise, also winning eight of their previous nine outings across all competitions – a run that stems back to April 1st – Rose’s side should be smelling another golden opportunity this weekend. It’s also worth highlighting, including a 2-0 win against Borussia Dortmund earlier in the month, Leipzig have collected maximum points in each of their last four straight appearances on home soil.
As for the visitors, while Schalke might have been last seen snatching an action-packed 2-2 draw at home against Eintracht Frankfurt, Thomas Reis’ side are seeking a major Bundesliga miracle on Saturday afternoon. Opening their final top-flight appearance sat one point adrift in the drop zone, the ex-Bochum boss finds his side tipped as a landslide pick to be hit with an immediate second-tier return. Last seen on their travels getting hit with a routine 6-0 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich, the Royal Blues will face a huge challenge when they travel to the Red Bull Arena here. Along with suffering an infamous 6-1 drumming when they welcomed Leipzig to the Veltins Arena for their reverse Bundesliga meeting on January 24th, Schalke hold a woeful record against Saturday’s hosts. In fact, Reis’ side have lost each of their last four straight meetings against the German giants by an aggregate score of 18-1. Given the recent gulf in class, a home win can be found at appealing odds this weekend.
