Bitesize Prediction: Real Sociedad vs RB Leipzig – 24/02/22

Competition: Europa League

Market: RB Leipzig to qualify

Odds: 10/11 @ 888sport

With it all still to play for on Thursday evening, Real Sociedad will host German outfit RB Leipzig for their Europa League second-leg showdown.

Starting with the hosts, while Real Sociedad might have managed to snatch a 2-2 draw out in Leipzig seven days ago, the Spanish outfit are coming off the back of a nightmare display. Completely blown away on the road last weekend and hit with a woeful 4-0 drumming at the hands of Athletic Bilbao, Head Coach Imanol Alguacil does find his side in the midst of a recent struggle. Including another 4-0 defeat against Real Betis on domestic duties earlier in the month, the Basque Country-based side have managed to win just one of their previous six matchups across all formats. Showing some worrying issues at the back, there is no doubt that Sociedad will know that they face another stern test on Thursday evening when they return to the Anoeta Stadium here.

As for the visitors, while Sociedad might have been hit with a woeful defeat over the weekend, the same cannot be said for an eye-catching RB Leipzig. Laying down a real marker and storming their way to a 6-1 romp against Hertha Berlin on the road, they do appear to have found their feet under new boss Domenico Tedesco. With the mood in their camp at a red-hot high, the Whites have lost just one of their previous eight matchups across all formats, a run that stems all the way back to December 18th. Looking to extend on their Europa League adventure here, it is well worth keeping an eye out for attacking talisman Christopher Nkunku. Bagging a brace against Hertha last time out, the 24-year-old has found the net in his last three appearances on the spin, recording four goals.
