Competition: Ligue 1
Market: Over 1.5 goals
Odds: 4/11 @ 888sport
Hoping to find a route out of the drop zone this weekend, Strasbourg will travel to the Stade Auguste-Delaune on Sunday lunchtime when they meet Reims.
Starting with the hosts, while Reims might have continued to impress many across France this season, Will Still’s side are seeking some recent stability. Last seen putting in a downbeat display away at Rennes as they slumped to a 3-0 drumming at the hands of Rennes, the Reds have now won just one of their last four Ligue 1 appearances. Marking their return from March’s international break with a 2-1 loss at home against Marseille, the ex-Standard Liege coach knows that his side are in need of a minor miracle if they’re to claim a top-six finish this year. However, although Reims might have been last seen at the Stade Auguste-Delaune playing out a 1-1 draw against Brest, Still’s men have suffered just a single home defeat since back on September 18th. It should also be noted, the Reds have seen seven of their previous nine home fixtures finish with over 1.5 goals.
As for the visitors, managing to make what was a crucial return to winning ways last weekend, Strasbourg will be desperate to keep up that momentum here. Eventually claiming what was a deserved 3-1 victory at home against AC Ajaccio, Le Racing have bounced back after opening April with an action-packed 4-3 defeat away at Monaco. Losing just a trio of their last eight Ligue 1 appearances, Frederic Antonetti’s men open this weekend’s fixtures sat just two points adrift of breaking out of the drop zone. While Strasbourg might have recorded just a singe domestic clean sheet since back on February 5th, they have found a recent clinical edge in the final third. It should also be highlighted, with five of the last six meetings between Sunday’s opponents seeing over 1.5 goals by the final whistle, we are backing a similar outcome from the Stade Auguste-Delaune here.
