Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Championship standings, Leeds will make the trip to Yorkshire rivals Rotherham on Friday night.
Starting with the hosts, heading into November’s international break with another nightmare Championship performance, Rotherham certainly find themselves in the midst of another second-tier relegation scrap. Last seen getting blown away thanks to a 5-0 drumming at the hands of an inconsistent Watford, the Millers are rightfully tipped as a leading relegation contender this season. Parting ways with now-former manager Matt Smith last week, Rotherham should be bracing themselves for a heavyweight challenge here. In fact, on a woeful run that is highlighted by a 2-0 loss against fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday when signing off October, Friday’s hosts have recorded just a single win from any of their previous 11 straight showdowns against Championship opposition – a run that stems all the way back to September 2nd. Continuing to show a string of defensive issues and shipping 32 goals in their 16 second-tier appearances this season, it should also be noted that Rotherham have recorded just one win from any of their last five contests at the New York Stadium.
As for the visitors, while Rotherham might find themselves in the midst of a major relegation scrap this season, Leeds are riding what has been a stunning wave of momentum. Heading into November’s international break with a 2-1 victory against Plymouth, Daniel Farke’s side have continued to gain a string of plaudits. With their sights firmly set on securing an immediate Premier League return this season, it appears that the mood around Elland Road is at a red-hot high. With their extended purple patch underlined by a stellar 1-0 win away at runaway leaders Leicester earlier in the month, Leeds will certainly be smelling the chance to make another statement here. Tipped as a leading promotion contender in 2024, the former Norwich boss has seen his high-flying squad win six of their previous seven Championship showdowns – a run that stems back to September 30th. Gaining a real reputation for their clinical performances in the final third, we are backing Farke’s side to extend on their Championship purple patch when they travel across Yorkshire here.
