Competition: Serie A

Market: Salernitana win

Odds: 19/20 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on what has been a real purple patch, Salernitana will welcome Venezia to the Stadio Arechi on Thursday evening.

Starting with the hosts, while Salernitana might have opened 2022 tipped as a landslide pick to make an immediate Serie B return, the Granata have really breathed life back into their campaign. Last seen putting in another eye-catching display as they picked up a rugged 1-1 draw away at Atalanta, Head Coach Davide Nicola has been filled with praise for his side’s recent purple patch. Opening Thursday’s showdown at the Stadio Arechi knowing that they could drag themselves out of the drop zone, Salernitana should be smelling a golden chance here. In fact, along with three wins on the spin last month, it should be noted that the midweek hosts have collected 10 points from just their last four Serie A matchups. With their stellar run highlighted by a 2-1 win against Fiorentina on April 24th, a home win here can be found at attractive odds.

As for the visitors, while Salernitana will find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high, the same cannot be said for Venezia side who appear to be freefalling their way out of Italy’s top-flight. Opening Thursday’s contest sat rock-bottom of the table and six points adrift of safety, interim boss Andrea Soncin is simply calling for a miracle. Last seen getting hit with a 2-1 loss away at former champions Juventus, the Winged Lions have lost each of their last nine Serie A matchups on the spin. With their extended nightmare stemming all the way back to a 1-1 draw against Genoa on February 20th, Venezia have only continued to show a string of issues at both ends of the pitch. Recording just a single victory across all formats since the middle of December, we’re backing a home victory here.

Bet: Salernitana 19/20 to beat Venezia in Thursday’s Serie A showdown @ 888sport
