Competition: Copa do Brasil

Market: Flamengo win

Odds: 19/20 @ 888sport

Looking to pick up a first-leg advantage in the early hours of Thursday, Flamengo will make the trip to the Morumbi when they meet Sao Paulo.

Starting with the hosts, while Sao Paulo might have managed to find a much-needed boost earlier in the month thanks to a 3-0 victory against RB Bragantino, Rogério Ceni’s side have continued to struggle with their consistency. Last seen over the weekend putting in a toothless display as they were hit with a 1-0 loss away at Santos, the Soberano have come tumbling down the Serie A table. Likewise, along with losing three of their last four top-flight contests, Sao Paulo have also managed to win just one of their previous eight domestic outings, a run that stems all the way back to July 3rd. Knowing that they should face a real task when Flamengo arrive at the Morumbi in midweek, it should also be highlighted that Ceni’s men have lost each of their last four meetings against Thursday’s guests.

As for the visitors, more than deserving of their 1-1 draw away at runaway leaders Palmeiras last weekend, Flamengo are in the midst of a real purple patch. Skyrocketing their way up the Serie A table and with the mood in their camp at a high, Head Coach Dorival Júnior has seen his side gain plenty of plaudits. On a run that is underlined by a thumping 5-0 victory against Athletico Paranaense earlier in the month, the Brazilian giants are unbeaten in each of their previous 12 matchups across all formats. With that stellar run of form stemming all the way back to July 10th, the Rio de Janeiro-based outfit will be looking to pick up a first-leg advantage here. Likewise, given their rather rampant record against an inconsistent Sao Paulo, we’re backing an away win here.

Bet: Flamengo 19/20 to beat Sao Paulo in Thursday’s Copa do Brasil battle @ 888sport
